Is there a version running on my platform?

If you don't find a suitable version for your platform in the download area, don't be disappointed. BARCODE has been
written in the very popular programming languange 'ANSI-C'. So, if you own an ANSI-C Compiler for your target systen, it is no problem for you to make a binary version. You will get the neccessary ANSI-C source code with the registration id.

Does it run with 'Microsoft Windows'?

The short anwer is:  No!
Due to the special working mode BARCODE is an ideal UNIX tool.

What printer models are supported?

BARCODE  supports laser printers, using Hewlett Packard's* popular PCL 5e (e.g. LJ4, LJ5, etc.).
Many actual laser printer 'understand'  PCL 5e  whereas dot matrix and ink jet printers don't

In the actual version the following limitation exists, but can easily be extended:

  • max. plain text length = 80 characters
  • max. length of the barcode command sequence = 200 characters

Where do I find the program sources?

For some obvious reasons, the BARCODE source code is not available for free.
You will get the ANSI-C source code with your registration id on demand.

How does registration works?

If you are satisfied with the results of the BARCODE program, you can get a registration id, which eliminates the restrictions of the download version. For the actual registration modalities see here.
